The Todd County FRYSC programs extend their thanks to all who came out for the third annual Firecracker 5K on Saturday morning, an event that successfully raised funds to purchase new shoes for students in need for the upcoming school year.

The event, hosted by the Rotary Club of Elkton, featured over 150 participants and raised around $8,000 for the Happy Feet program to help out around 200 students.

North Todd Elementary Family Resource Coordinator Emily Buis told Your WEKT News Edge that the support was incredible.

The program will support students across the district, with a distribution day to be scheduled before the school year starts on Wednesday, August 6th.

Buis added that the FRYSCs are in the middle of an adopt-a-student campaign to purchase other clothing items for families in need.

The FRYSC programs also have a list of back-to-school programs taking place in the community that those in need can take advantage of to get free school supplies.

To access these services for your child, reach out to their school and speak with the FRYSC.
