The Elkton Rotary Club surpassed its fundraising goal for its third annual Firecracker 5K Saturday morning.
Over 150 participants participated in the race through Elkton, and when the race was over, nearly $8,000 had been raised to provide 200 Todd County School students with new shoes to start the school year.
Rotarian Willard Knipp told Your WEKT News Edge how the fundraiser originated.
Knipp added that business-minded individuals are invited to join the Elkton Rotary Club, which meets every Wednesday at Noon at the Milliken Memorial Community House.
Shoes for Todd County students will be distributed before students head back to the classroom. For more information, contact your child’s school for their FRYSC program.
