Despite ending over a month ago, support for WEKT’s inaugural food drive, which benefited Todd County Schools’ FRYSC program, has quietly quadrupled.
During Saturday’s Community Broadcast at Elkton’s Touch-A-Truck event, North Todd Elementary Family Resource Coordinator Emily Buis said support continues to come in.
Buis added that this increased support allows them to provide food for over 50 families in July, a level of assistance they haven’t reached in a while.
Additionally, Buis said they plan to host a chance to ‘adopt a student’ to help purchase back-to-school clothing for the upcoming school year. More information on that program will be released soon on WEKT.
The FRYSC programs will also assist with the Elkton Rotary Club’s annual Firecracker 5K on Saturday morning, June 28, to benefit the Happy Feet Program, which purchases new shoes for students in need. Those shoes will be distributed in early August, prior to the start of the 2025-26 school year.
