Trenton Resident Shelley Haley is the newest Trenton City Commissioner after being sworn in at Tuesday evening’s special-called meeting.
The commission unanimously voted to appoint Haley to replace Commissioner Wayne Johnson after his resignation last month.
Haley and her family are Trenton natives.
The commission approved the lowest of two bids for the mowing and maintenance of Edgewood Cemetery. The $7,800 contract was awarded to Jaxon Addison, of Trenton, for mowing from June 1 to September 30.
In other news, the commission approved an agreement with Todd County, the first step in receiving the $236,775 in grant monies recently awarded as part of the $1.75 million allocation from KY House Bill 1.
According to City Wastewater Superintendent Benn Stahl, monies from the grant will be used for site and safety improvements at Trenton Park, including drainage work, removal of trees, new lighting and playground equipment, and dirt work to raise the sidewalks and playground equipment.
The agreement, as approved, also states that the City of Trenton agrees to maintain the park for the next ten years.
The commission approved a $1,000 donation to the Todd County Industrial Foundation and the city’s most recent financial audit, as prepared by DGA, PSC out of Hopkinsville, KY.
The city’s annual Memorial Day Service has been scheduled for Sunday, May 25, at 2:00 PM, at the Trenton Presbyterian Church.
