Clifty School Park officials broke ground on a new facility Monday morning, filling the void of not having had a large event center since the late 1990s.

Funds approved for the project come from Jason Petrie and the Kentucky General Assembly. They were among the projects approved for the $1.75 million from HB 1 approved in 2024 for Todd County parks and the TCCHS Tech Center.

Clifty School Park was approved for $307,275 in funds to build a new community building. Keystone Construction Salesman Dexter Byler shared the building’s features.

Byler added that residents will start to notice progress on the building within the next week, and the project will be completed by the end of the summer or early fall.

Todd County Emergency Management Director Ashley Groves, who also serves on the Clifty School Park board, shared his excitement for the project.

The new 60′ x 80′ building will connect to the current “Blue Jays Nest,” and the outdoor stage on the property will be removed.

In addition to thanking fellow Cliftonian Jason Petrie, Todd County Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield thanked Groves and the current Clifty School Park board.

While the park depends on funds from renting out the “Blue Jays Nest” to pay for park improvements, the facility will be closed until the construction project is complete. The board, a 501c3 non-profit, is also working on a cost structure for rental of these facilities; more information will be available soon on its Facebook page.

The park board plans to expand activities to community members who may have mobility issues that prevent them from physical activity or gathering to socialize in colder months.
