WEKT And Todd County Schools Launch Week-Long Food Drive To Combat Summer Hunger

WEKT is partnering with Todd County Schools to host a week-long food drive to collect donations for students who would otherwise go hungry during the coming summer.

During Thursday night’s softball game coverage as the Lady Rebels took on Caldwell County, Marketing Specialist Caitlin Brooks encouraged the community to step up and help with this event.

Brooks added that WEKT will host a broadcast at both Todd County Food Giant locations on Thursday, May 8th. The broadcasts will start in Guthrie from 11:00 AM to Noon. The donation drive will then move to the Elkton store from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.

The school district FRYSCs will then take the donations and make food baskets to give to families in need, ensuring a better summer for all children involved.

The food drive has already received donations from the South Western Kentucky EDC and Brice Long’s Back-to-Back Foundation. If you’d like to donate, but are unsure who to speak to, email info@wektradio.com, and a pickup can be arranged.

The food drive will end next Thursday evening during a special tailgate before the Todd County and Fort Campbell softball game at Todd County Central High School. WEKT’s broadcast of the tailgate will begin at 4:30, with the game set to begin at 6:00 PM.
