
Local leaders and TVA officials visited Todd County Schools Tuesday to see how funds were being used for robotics programs.
The programs at Todd County Central High School, Todd County Middle School, and South Todd Elementary School were awarded $5,000 in STEM awards during the 2024 cycle.
Chris Skipworth, a teacher at Todd County Central High School, said his class features a lot of programming.
He added the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center at TCCHS features STEM-related programs.
During the visit, Jordan Brumfield, a Todd County Central High School Student, shared a little bit about the process of using the school’s 3-D printer.
Erica Skipworth, a South Todd Elementary School STEAM Teacher, said funds have been used to purchase VR headsets in recent years, which the students have enjoyed this year.
Edward Cantarelli, a Todd County Middle School STEAM Teacher, said he wanted to turn his classroom into a 3D printing lab, and the funds allowed him to do so.
A total of $1.5 million in awards went to schools across the seven-state region in 2024, thanks to the partnership with TVA and Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc.
