Mrs. Mary Jane “Janie” Russell, age 84 of Fairview, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024 at her residence.
Services for Mrs. Janie will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2024 at Latham Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Mallory officiating. Burial will follow in the Tabernacle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Latham Funeral Home and from 11:00 a.m. until time for the service Monday. The service will be live-streamed at lathamfuneralhome.com.
Mrs. Janie was born September 19, 1940 in Christian County, KY. She was a homemaker and worked for farmers in tobacco. She loved to sew, paint and to go fishing. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Paddy Stokes and Della Upton Stokes Turner, her husband, Robert “Cotton” Russell Jr., her brothers, Jim Stokes, Dorris Stokes, Bill Stokes, Thurston Stokes and Junior Stokes, her sisters, Helen Russell, Diane Lancaster, Louise Tabb and Annie Ewing.
Survivors include her sons, Dan Dewayne “Bubba” Russell of Fairview and Robert Edgar Russell and his wife Angela of Elkton, her daughter, Patricia Ann “Patty” Abston of Fairview, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
