Even with the remnants of Hurricane Helene disrupting plans for Todd County Central High School’s homecoming, several events have been moved and will occur Thursday night.
The school announced the homecoming festivities will begin at 4:30 PM Thursday with the parade starting at TCCHS – following a path along South Main Street and the Elkton square before returning to the school. Tailgating will start at 5:00, while the Homecoming Court and crowning ceremony will take place at 6:45. The Todd County vs. Russellville game will kick off at 7:00, with Band Senior Night taking place at halftime.
Meanwhile, the homecoming dance will still take place Friday night from 8:00 to 11:00 at the high school.
TCCHS student Jocelyn Webb introduces us to this year’s Homecoming Court:
Madi Harrison- Senior: Madi is the TCCHS cheer captain and vice president of this year’s senior class. She participates in NHS, beta, FCA, and 4-H clubs – and is noted to be a very active member of each. She also happens to be part of the Governers Scholar program, which includes students with high academic achievement and community involvement. Friends of hers have noted how sweet, outgoing, and fun she is to be around. Her love for her community is obvious and she always works hard to show it.
Nelania Osborne- Senior: Nelania is a member of the National Honors Society and a valuable member of the Beta Club. She also is the Co-Captain of the TCCHS dance team, where each member vouched for her large amount of energy and strong leadership skills. Natural leadership is a rare trait to come by but Nelania has it down to a T.
Aidan Bobbett – Senior: Aiden is a member of the football team and FCA group, and is known to be a dedicated member of both. Peers have noted his passion for just about anything he does and his overall pleasantness to be around. Aiden always has a positive attitude and many vouch for his dependability. He is honestly just a super sweet guy and his inclusion on this list doesn’t surprise me one bit.
Devin Schutt – Senior: Devin is also a senior and plays baseball and basketball, and his talent at both leaves nothing to be desired. Beyond that, he participates in Beta Club and he plays golf. One of Devin’s past teachers relayed that he has an affinity for Monopoly Go.
Anne’lee Merriweather – Senior: Anne’lee is a key part of the girl’s basketball team and is recognized for her strong leadership skills and outspoken nature. It’s her natural ability to lead that makes her perfect for her role as FCCLA President. Her peers were quick to point out how welcoming and friendly she is, along with a keen sense of humor.
Emily Claire Thomas – Senior: Emily is a member of FCA, Beta, FCCLA, and NHS and is known to be sweet, caring, and kind. Everyone we talked to had nothing but good things to say about her and anyone who knows her readily vouchs for her kindness. Emily is also a member of the volleyball team and is held in high accord by her fellow players. Her sense of humor and readiness to give it her all make her a valuable member of our school community.
Antavion Shemwell – Senior: Antavion is known to be on the quieter side, but one of his former teachers said he was one of the most polite and respectful students she had. He has a passion for sports that can’t be beaten and a sense of style that demands only the best kind of attention. Antavion is known to be stubborn in the best way and his inclusion on this list should surprise no one.
Callista Chapman – Senior: Callista is in FFA, FCA, Beta, and NHS. Members of these groups have reported her to be a very supportive and involved member of each club and her teammates on the volleyball team share similar comments. Callista is a capable athlete, a promising student, and even more importantly a good friend.
Ja’mya Kay – Junior: Ja’mya is our ECCLA club officer, where she serves as VP of public relations and also serves as a yearbook staff member. Beyond that, she is an important part of the basketball and track teams. Even with her full plate, her peers have mentioned that she is a treasured member of our sporting and academic community, keeping her fellow students motivated to do their best.
Thomas “Wade” Morse – Junior: Wade, like most of our other candidates, is in our Beta Club, but he is also part of FFA, 4-H, and FCA groups. Every peer we talked to said he’s a “cool guy” but they also went on to talk about his passion for sports and socializing. Wade always has something new to talk about and is sure to include everyone in the conversation. He just so happens to also be on the TCCHS football team.
Eli Wilson – Sophomore: Eli plays basketball and baseball and enjoys hanging out with his friends. They say he is liked by most everyone, funny, and enjoyable to be around.
Ariana Hudson – Sophmore: Ariana is a member of Beta and 4-H along with our freshman candidates and is involved with the volleyball team and cheerleading squad. Her peers were quick to point out her great sportsmanship, encouraging nature, and an even better sense of humor. Across the board, she is regarded as a sweet girl and a great friend.
Memphis Bell – Freshman: Memphis participates in the 4H and Beta clubs while being a key part of the soccer team. Memphis has always been brimming with energy and knows how to light up a room with his social personality and tendency to make people laugh. Memphis is known to be a bit of a class clown, but his high academic standing and bright personality speak to his capabilities as a student and athlete.
Destiny Johnson – Freshman: Destiny is a member of FFA, Beta, and 4-H, she also participates in archery and cheerleading. Destiny is known for her academic prowess and inclusivity and everyone we spoke to shared nothing but praise. She is a very bright girl with a bright future ahead of her and I know she’ll go far.
