North Todd Elementary School is seeking community volunteers for various opportunities within the school.
Family Resource Center Coordinator Emily Buis says North Todd believes it takes a village to raise a child and the team there is working to get the community more involved in the school system.
There are quite a few opportunities in which volunteers could be involved with.
The school is also looking for morning bus greeters, volunteers for book fairs, family literacy nights and the fall festival, as well as after-school programming.
She adds the school really wants to focus on building positive relationships between adults and students.
Another big need is someone who is bilingual.
The schedule is flexible, and someone could volunteer for one week or throughout the whole school year. Buis says some programs require more consistency, but in many aspects, a one-time volunteer would also be very helpful.
Just like the rest of the world, Buis says North Todd’s volunteers slowed down during the start COVID-19, and this is the first time the school has pushed for more volunteers since then.
Background checks are required for all volunteers. Forms can be picked up for $10 at North Todd or the board office.
