A temporary closure of the Billy Goat Hill Local Farm To Table Food Store is the first step in a planned expansion for the Todd County business.

The store, located next to Bill Goat Hill’s restaurant on Elkton’s Square, will close on Saturday, August 31st. Owner Melissa Weathers told Your WEKT News Edge the store and eventually, the restaurant will relocate to her family’s farm.

Weathers added the new store will continue offering meats from the farm, which the community continues to enjoy, and an expanded offering of Chaney’s ice cream.

The expanded restaurant will offer more seating for customers and a space for anyone to host events, meetings, and parties.

Weathers added that work has not started on the building, but plans are quickly moving in that direction.

Melissa, her husband Robbie, and her family operate Billy Goat Hill Farm, located off U.S. 68 – outside the Elkton city limits. Robbie also serves as an ag teacher at Todd County Middle School.

The restaurant and farm store will be located at the intersection of U.S. 68 and Old Quarry Road, on the westbound side. Weathers said even with the store closure, you can order meats, produce, and other farm items by talking with her at the restaurant or visiting their online store.

Billy Goat Hill, the restaurant, is located at 21 Public Square in Elkton and is most known for serving meats from the farm and chickens raised by the Todd County Middle School program and other local farmers.
