As the 2024-25 school year is now in full swing, Todd County Superintendent Mark Thomas has a few updates to share with the community.
Friday, Aug. 30 will be an early release day for all students and there will be no school Monday, Sept. 2 as the district observes Labor Day. School will resume Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Athletic programs are well underway as the middle and high school have jumped into their seasons. In fact, some fall sports are already halfway through their seasons, says Thomas.
He says the middle school’s athletic programs are very impressive and invites the community to come out and cheer on the football, soccer and softball teams during their home games this week.
At the high school level, cross country began its full-fledged season and Thomas says all students are performing very well with many placing personal records and excelling in their respective leagues.
Additionally, The TCCHS football team has another home game Friday, Aug. 30. Thomas says there was a fabulous turnout this past Friday for the season’s kick-off and he would love to see even more people. He also wants to invite the community and district to a free tailgate event before the football game. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and gates open at 5 p.m. to find a tailgate spot.
Thomas shares students across the district are currently in the process of completing their benchmark assessments and is hoping to have them wrapped up by the end of this week.
Looking ahead, the district’s fall break will take place during the second week of October from Monday, Oct. 7 to Friday, Oct. 11.
