The Elkton Rotary Club’s annual Firecracker 5K will be held Saturday, July 27.
Todd County Chamber of Commerce Director Tiffany Groves says the race will begin at 8 a.m. at the Milliken Community House and travel 3.1 miles through historic downtown Elkton.
Participants can register online through the Elkton Rotary’s Facebook page or day of starting at 6:30 a.m. The registration fee is $30 and includes a free t-shirt. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by July 20 – after that, late entry registration will cost $40.
Groves adds every penny from the Firecracker 5k will go toward a new pair of shoes for a Todd County student. Last year, the Rotary Club raised around $3,000, equating to around 100 pairs of shoes. Groves’ goal for this year’s race is to raise enough to supply 200 pairs of shoes.
Individuals can also donate through the online registration link if they are not interested in doing the race but still want to help out.
Groves says the Rotary Club is still looking for event sponsors and volunteers. Those interested should contact the chamber at info@toddchamber.com.
