The Allegre Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its spring fundraiser Saturday, June 1 at the firehouse.
Chief Steven Weaver says the event will feature live music by the Country Twang Band, bouncy houses, an auction and a meal.
The meal is $20 for all-you-can-eat and Weaver says there will be pulled pork, BBQ chicken, chips, pies, funnel cakes and soft-serve ice cream available. The fire department will begin serving at 4:30 p.m. with the band to perform soon after.
Weaver says the auction will start around 6 p.m. and have anything from tools to crafts, all from community and local business donations.
He adds the fire department will be electing a new board member at the event as well.
Weaver says the organization put up a new building in the last two years, which is what most of the money from the state goes toward. The money raised from Saturday’s fundraiser will cover expenses such as the firehouse’s power bill and fuel costs to keep everything up and running. Weaver adds he is looking to purchase some new equipment in the near future if they are able to — as well as possibly a new fire truck — and adds the department is always looking to better themselves and have better equipment for the community.
Any monetary donations can be mailed to the Allegre Volunteer Fire Department at 5715 Allegre Rd. in Elkton, Kentucky. For more information, contact Weaver at 270-878-0320.
The event should be over around 9:30 p.m. Weaver says he hopes the fundraiser has a great turnout and nobody goes home with an empty stomach.
