Elkton Rotary Club Gives Back With Scholarships And Grants

The Elkton Rotary Club handed out over $30,000 in scholarships for Todd County graduating seniors and teacher grants in May.

The club reported that because of the community’s generosity, they were recently able to hand out 20 scholarships to the Class of 2024 at Todd County Central High School.

Additionally, the Elkton Rotary Club gave out $500 grants to two educators at each school across the Todd County Public Schools District to help them pay for needs during the 2024-25 school year.
Recipients from North Todd Elementary School included Chris Blake, who will purchase ten new ukuleles, and the Kindergarten Team, so they can provide themed days like “Chef’s Restaurant Day” (phonics activities), “Party Planning Day” and “Donut Shoppe Day” (both math activities).
South Todd Elementary’s Lorie DeBerry plans to repair the outdoor learning classroom, while Addye Sawyers, will purchase items for sensory activities and manipulatives.
At Todd County Middle School, recipients included Mary Skipworth who plans to upgrade equipment for video production, and
Heather Dipasquale, will use the funds to support performing at community events and for community organizations throughout the school year.
Todd County Central High School’s Holly Lawson will use the funds to purchase items to enhance the Sensory Room – while Shayla Berry will provide a Veterinary Science Learning Lab experience for students.
