With renovations underway, the Todd County Senior Citizens Center is currently transitioning to its temporary location at the Nazarene Church in Elkton.
Senior Center Director Charlotte Lyons says it’s going to take a little time to get adjusted to the new spot and the center’s permanent location on Morris Weathers Road will be out of pocket for the next six months. In the meantime, Lyons says a lot of wonderful things will be happening at the center.
She says the center moved locations early last week and the next day, the crew had already started taking tiles out of the ceiling. The center is using C&C Contracting, LLC for its project, the same group in charge of the renovations for the new Todd County Library.
Lyons adds the building’s interior will also see some improvements.
She is hoping the project will be finished this year around the end of September or beginning of October.
Meanwhile, the center will still offer its regular programs, including the monthly commodities. April’s distribution has already occurred, but seniors can contact the center for more information about next month’s commodity distribution. Lyons says seniors must be at least 60 years old, low income and residents of Todd County in order to sign up for the program.
Meal menus are posted online on a monthly basis through PACS-KY.org under “Aging Program.” Lyons says all nine counties serve the same meals at their centers every day but Todd County residents will need to call at least a day in advance to order their meals, which will be served “picnic style” at the Nazarene Church.
Weekly events still maintain their normal schedule, with cornhole every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, bingo on Tuesday and Thursday, and bible study Tuesday morning. All events are welcome to seniors and their guests.
The Todd County Senior Citizens Center phone number can still be reached at 270-265-5935.
