Todd County Central High School Alumni Spotlight: Melinda Service

Melinda Dawn Service is a 1993 graduate of Todd County Central High School.

She values most from Todd Central her experience on the track team as well as being part of the Honors/AP program and graduating with the Commonwealth Diploma. Service has fond memories of time spent with friends, Mrs. Bellar’s AP Biology labs, braiding everyone’s hair for the track team and being part of the yearbook staff.

She adds she will always treasure the memory of being in Mrs. Dina Harper’s AP Spanish plays during her senior year, specifically “Blancanieves,” where Service played the Spanish version of Snow White and her chihuahua BoBo was the “prince” that licked her face to wake her up.

Service advises current Todd Central students to enjoy every minute, have fun and not to take their time in school for granted. She adds to make memories and not to get in a hurry to grow up, because high school will be some of the best years of their lives.

She offers the same advice to educators as she would a student and thanks current Todd Central educators for being such an important part of children’s lives.

After graduating, Service attended Austin Peay State University and earned a Bachelor’s of Science. She has been a medical laboratory scientist for the past 27 years and currently works at Graves Gilbert Clinic in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Service lives in Elkton with her husband, John Keith Service, and son, John Riley Service, who is currently a senior at Todd Central. She says she has absolutely loved being a soccer mom throughout her son’s middle and high school years.
